It's true. The part about the "ring around the rosie" is a symptom of the bubonic plague, "we all fall down" is a reference to everyone dying, and "a pocket full of posie" was a handerkerchief full of dried flowers used to cover up the smell of dead bodies. It's grotesque, but seems to have lost its meaning over the years.
